Xeon Bronze 3106 Details

For users requiring reliable, entry-level server processing with integrated virtualization and ECC memory support, the Intel Xeon Bronze 3106 offers a cost-effective foundation. Designed for server and workstation environments, this processor was released in July 2017, making it over eight years old as of early 2026. While outdated by modern standards, it remains relevant in legacy infrastructure and budget server deployments where high-end performance is not required.

Built on Intel’s Skylake-SP microarchitecture and manufactured on a 14 nm process, the Xeon Bronze 3106 features 8 cores and 8 threads, with a base clock of 1.7 GHz and a turbo frequency of up to 3.0 GHz. It supports DDR4-2133 memory, with up to 768 GB of ECC-capable RAM across six channels, and delivers a maximum memory bandwidth of 95.37 GiB/s. The chip is packaged in FCLGA-3647 and operates at a 85 W TDP, requiring adequate cooling in server chassis.

The processor includes a substantial 11 MiB L3 cache and 8 MiB of L2 cache, with 0.25 MiB of L1 cache per core. It supports a wide array of Intel technologies, including AVX, AVX2, and AVX-512, as well as Intel vPro, Intel VT-x, and Intel VT-d for hardware virtualization. Despite its capabilities, the Xeon Bronze 3106 lacks integrated graphics, necessitating a discrete GPU for any visual output.

In benchmark testing, the Xeon Bronze 3106 scores 4,389 in the Overall Score, ranking #1,415 out of 2,060 processors, with a Singlecore Score of 4,259 (#1,524) and a Multicore Score of 4,584 (#1,112). These results place it behind modern consumer and server processors but ahead of many older and low-power chips. Its multicore performance is relatively stronger than its single-core performance, indicating it benefits from parallel workloads more than heavily single-threaded tasks.

As of March 2026, the Xeon Bronze 3106 is best suited for small-scale servers, network appliances, or virtualization hosts where power efficiency and cost are priorities over raw performance. It competes with processors like the Core i3-8109U and Celeron N3010 in its performance tier, but its server-grade features—such as ECC memory and dual-processor support—make it more appropriate for professional use cases than consumer CPUs. While it cannot keep pace with today’s top-tier processors, its long-standing availability and reliability ensure it remains a viable option in certain enterprise environments.
