A6-3670 Details

The AMD A6-3670 represents a budget-oriented processor from an era when integrated graphics were a key selling point for mainstream desktops. Released in the early 2010s, this CPU is now considered outdated by modern standards, particularly as of 2026. It was designed to serve as an affordable option for light computing tasks and multimedia consumption, rather than high-performance applications or gaming. Its 45 nm manufacturing process and LGA775 socket reflect its place in the earlier generation of x86 processors, and it is now largely obsolete in the current market landscape.

Built on AMD's architecture, the A6-3670 features four cores and four threads, with a base clock speed of 2.83 GHz and a turbo frequency of 2.7 GHz—though the latter appears to be a data inconsistency given the lower value than the base clock. The processor supports DDR3 800 memory across three channels, with a maximum memory bandwidth of 19.2 GB/s and a theoretical limit of 144 GB of RAM. It operates at a TDP of 95 W, which, while not excessively high, makes it less efficient compared to modern low-power alternatives.

Despite its age, the A6-3670 includes a variety of modern instruction set extensions, including AVX2, AES, SSE4.1, and SSE4.2, as well as support for virtualization technologies such as AMD-V and Intel VT-x. It also supports ECC memory, a feature typically reserved for server-grade components, indicating some forward-thinking in its design. However, these capabilities are overshadowed by its outdated performance metrics.

The integrated graphics solution is the HD Graphics 2000, a product of Intel’s design despite the processor being manufactured by AMD—an unusual cross-brand collaboration. This GPU operates at a base frequency of 650 MHz with a burst frequency of 1100 MHz and supports up to two displays. While it was adequate for basic HD video playback and light graphical workloads at the time, it offers little to no value today.

In benchmark testing, the A6-3670 scores 4305 in the overall rating, placing it at #1521 out of 2060 processors in the dataset. Its single-core performance of 4253 ranks it at #1529, and its multicore score of 4384 places it at #1493. These results place it behind a wide range of modern and even older processors, such as the Core i5-560M and the Athlon II X4 605e, both of which achieve slightly higher scores despite being older or less powerful. The processor’s performance is further dwarfed by the top-tier CPUs listed in the top 50 benchmarks, where scores exceed 7000 and even surpass 12,000 in multicore performance.

Given its age and limited performance, the A6-3670 is best suited for legacy systems or light-duty applications such as web browsing, office productivity, and media playback. It is not competitive in any modern computing segment, and users seeking better performance would be better served by even entry-level modern CPUs. As of March 2026, the A6-3670 remains a relic of a bygone era in computing, useful only in niche or retro environments.
