A4-5300B Details

As of March 2026, the AMD A4-5300B remains a relic of the early 2010s, having been launched in October 2012. Though it was once positioned as an affordable entry into the desktop computing space, its performance today places it far behind modern processors. Built on AMD's Trinity architecture and fabricated at 32 nm by GlobalFoundries, the A4-5300B is a dual-core, dual-thread CPU with a base clock of 3.4 GHz and a turbo frequency of 3.6 GHz. It operates within a 65 W TDP and uses the Socket FM2 interface, making it compatible with a limited range of older motherboards. With 1 MB of L2 cache and support for DDR3-1600 memory via a dual-channel bus, the chip reflects the design priorities of its era—cost-effective integration over raw performance.

The A4-5300B’s most notable feature is its integrated Radeon HD 7480D graphics, which, while capable for basic tasks and light multimedia, offers no meaningful performance for gaming or modern applications. Despite this, the processor supports several key technologies, including AVX, AES-NI, and AMD-V, which enhance its utility in virtualized environments and data processing workloads. The locked multiplier limits overclocking potential, and the absence of SMT (Simultaneous Multithreading) caps its ability to handle multithreaded applications efficiently.

In benchmark testing, the A4-5300B achieves an overall score of 4281, placing it at #1547 out of 2060 processors. Its single-core performance scores 4263 (#1519), while its multicore performance reaches 4308 (#1732). These results place it firmly in the lower tier of available CPUs, trailing behind even older dual-core processors like the Core 2 Duo P9700 and the Athlon II X4 640. In comparison to top-tier modern chips such as the Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9995WX or Core Ultra 9 285K, the A4-5300B is over 20 times slower in single-core and more than 25 times slower in multicore performance.

Despite its age and limitations, the A4-5300B may still serve in niche roles such as lightweight office computing, media playback, or as a low-power system for basic tasks. However, for any form of productivity, gaming, or content creation, it is woefully inadequate. Its performance reflects a time when integrated graphics and modest processing power were sufficient for everyday computing, but today it stands as a testament to how far processor technology has advanced in just over a decade.
