Celeron N3150 Details

The Intel Celeron N3150, released in 2015, is a low-power, quad-core processor designed for entry-level and fanless computing devices. Built on Intel's 14 nm process and based on the Bay Trail architecture, this CPU targets thin and light systems such as netbooks, mini PCs, and embedded platforms where power efficiency and thermal constraints are critical. Despite its age, the N3150 remains relevant in niche markets due to its low TDP of just 6 W, which allows for passive cooling and silent operation in compact form factors.

Featuring four cores and four threads, the Celeron N3150 operates at a base frequency of 1.6 GHz with a turbo boost up to 1.86 GHz. It supports DDR3L-1600 memory in a dual-channel configuration, delivering a maximum memory bandwidth of 21.3 GB/s. The processor uses a 650 MHz integrated GPU with a burst frequency of 854 MHz, capable of driving up to three displays simultaneously. The GPU supports basic multimedia decoding and can handle 1080p video playback efficiently.

The Celeron N3150 is socketed in the FCBGA1170 package, making it suitable for systems with limited space and soldered components. It supports a range of Intel technologies including SSE4.1, SSE4.2, AVX2, AES-NI, and Intel vPro, enabling secure and efficient computing. However, it lacks ECC memory support and does not support Hyper-Threading, which limits its performance in multi-threaded workloads.

In benchmark testing, the N3150 achieves a Passmark Overall Score of 3865, placing it #1985 out of 2060 processors. Its Singlecore Score is 3582, ranking #1985, and its Multicore Score is 4289, ranking #1786. These results place it behind more recent low-power chips like the Atom x7-Z8750 and ahead of older models such as the Pentium N4200. The processor’s multicore performance is notably stronger than its single-core performance, indicating it benefits from workload distribution across its four cores.

As of March 2026, the Celeron N3150 remains a viable option for basic office applications, web browsing, and media playback in low-power systems. While it cannot compete with modern processors in terms of raw performance or efficiency, its low cost, minimal power consumption, and long-term availability make it a practical choice for embedded and industrial applications where high performance is not required.
