Celeron G1820T Details

As of March 2026, the Intel Celeron G1820T remains a relic from the early Haswell era, launched in December 2013. While it's no longer relevant in today's high-performance computing landscape, its continued presence in benchmark databases highlights its role as a foundational entry-level desktop processor. With a 2.4 GHz base clock and a 54 W TDP, the G1820T is designed for low-power, budget-oriented systems where efficiency and basic functionality are prioritized over raw power.

Built on Intel's 22 nm process and using the Haswell architecture, the Celeron G1820T features two physical cores and two threads, with no simultaneous multithreading support. It includes 3 MB of L3 cache and supports DDR3 memory via a dual-channel interface. The processor is socketed in LGA1150 and uses a locked clock multiplier, meaning it cannot be overclocked. Despite its age, it retains Intel’s virtualization technologies, including VT-x, which allows for better virtual machine performance in compatible environments.

The integrated Intel HD Graphics (Haswell) provides basic visual processing capabilities, suitable for office applications, media playback, and light multimedia tasks. However, it lacks the performance required for modern gaming or intensive graphical workloads. The lack of advanced features like AVX2 or FMA3 limits its usefulness in compute-heavy workloads, though it supports a range of instruction sets including SSE4.2 and MMX.

In benchmark testing, the Celeron G1820T scores 4,404 overall, ranking #1,394 out of 2,060 processors. Its single-core performance reaches 4,424, placing it at #1,367, while its multicore score of 4,375 lands it at #1,516. These results indicate that the processor performs reasonably well for basic single-threaded applications but falls far behind modern CPUs in multi-threaded scenarios. It competes with older Intel Core i3 and AMD Athlon II models, but is outperformed by nearly every mainstream processor released since 2015.

When compared to the top 50 processors in the market, the Celeron G1820T is clearly positioned at the bottom tier. The leading CPUs, such as the Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9995WX and Core Ultra 9 285K, deliver over 20 times the performance in multicore workloads. This gap underscores the processor’s obsolescence in modern computing environments. However, for users needing a low-cost, energy-efficient system for light tasks like web browsing, document editing, or media playback, the G1820T remains a viable option—albeit one that should be viewed as a temporary or secondary system component rather than a primary processor.
