A6-1450 Details

The AMD A6-1450 is designed for users seeking a low-power, budget-friendly mobile computing experience, particularly in ultraportable devices where thermal constraints and battery life are critical. Built on AMD's Temash architecture and fabricated on a 32 nm process by GlobalFoundries, this processor represents a legacy design from May 2013, making it a product of a bygone era in mobile computing. Despite its age, the A6-1450 retains relevance in niche markets due to its extremely low 8 W TDP, which enables long battery life and passive cooling in thin-and-light laptops.

This mobile processor features four cores and four threads, operating at a base frequency of 1.0 GHz with a turbo boost up to 1.4 GHz, depending on workload. It supports DDR3 memory at a rated speed of 1066 MT/s through a single-channel memory interface, delivering a maximum memory bandwidth of 8528 MB/s. The processor uses the Socket FT3 interface and is packaged in a BGA2 form factor, indicating it is soldered directly onto the motherboard, which limits upgradeability. It also supports PCIe 2.0 with 8 lanes, primarily for the CPU's direct connection to storage and expansion devices.

Integrated graphics are provided by the Radeon HD 8250, which features 192 shader cores and can operate at a maximum frequency of 700 MHz. This GPU supports up to three display outputs, making it suitable for basic multimedia and light productivity tasks. While not capable of modern gaming, it can handle video playback and light graphical applications efficiently. The A6-1450 also includes support for a range of instruction sets, including AVX, AES, SSE, and AMD-V, enabling efficient virtualization and encryption performance.

In benchmark testing, the A6-1450 achieves an overall score of 3791, placing it at #2021 out of 2060 processors in the database. Its single-core performance scores 3466, ranking #2024, while its multicore score is 4278, ranking #1826. These results place it behind contemporary low-end processors like the Intel Celeron N2808 and the AMD Athlon X2 BE-2400, indicating that while the A6-1450 was competitive in its time, it now trails significantly behind modern designs. Its performance is comparable to early 2010s mobile CPUs but lags far behind today’s top-tier processors, such as the Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9995WX, which scores over 9,000.

As of March 2026, the AMD A6-1450 is best suited for basic computing tasks such as web browsing, office applications, and media playback in devices where power efficiency and cost are prioritized over raw performance. Its integrated graphics and low power consumption make it ideal for entry-level laptops and netbooks, though users requiring higher computational power or modern software support should consider more recent alternatives. While outdated by today’s standards, the A6-1450 remains a testament to AMD’s early efforts in mobile integration and energy-efficient computing.
