A10-9700E Details

The AMD A10-9700E is designed for budget-conscious desktop users who need a capable processor with integrated graphics for everyday tasks, multimedia, and light productivity workloads. Launched in 2017, this processor belongs to the Bristol Ridge lineup and is built on a 22 nm process node using the Excavator microarchitecture. Despite its age, the A10-9700E remains a viable option for basic computing needs due to its low TDP of 35 W and integrated Radeon R7 graphics, making it suitable for compact, energy-efficient systems.

This processor features a dual-core design with four threads, clocked at a base frequency of 2.6 GHz and capable of boosting up to 3.2 GHz under load. It supports DDR3 memory with a maximum speed of 2400 MT/s across a dual-channel interface, delivering a theoretical memory bandwidth of 38.4 GB/s. The integrated graphics unit, Radeon R7, operates at a base frequency of 650 MHz and can reach a burst frequency of 1.1 GHz, supporting up to three displays simultaneously. The chip includes 2 MB of L2 cache and a 0.122 MiB L1 cache, with no dedicated L3 cache. It uses the FCBGA1023 socket and is compatible with X370, B350, and A320 chipsets.

In terms of supported features, the A10-9700E includes a broad range of instruction sets such as SSE, AVX, AVX2, and AES-NI, enabling efficient handling of modern applications and encryption tasks. It also supports hardware virtualization via AMD-V, which improves performance in virtual machine environments. However, the processor lacks Simultaneous Multithreading (SMT), meaning it does not support Hyper-Threading or similar technologies.

Benchmark results place the A10-9700E at an Overall Score of 4631, ranking it #1165 among 2060 CPUs, with a Singlecore Score of 4660 (#1171) and a Multicore Score of 4588 (#1105). While it outperforms many low-end and mobile processors, such as the Core i3-4160 and Celeron N3010, it falls behind more powerful mainstream and high-end CPUs. Its performance is comparable to mid-tier processors from the same era, such as the Core i5-6200U and FX-8100, but it is significantly outpaced by modern offerings like the Ryzen 9 9950X3D and Core Ultra 9 285K.

As of March 2026, the A10-9700E is best suited for entry-level desktops, media centers, or systems where integrated graphics eliminate the need for a discrete GPU. While it is no longer competitive in high-performance scenarios, its low power consumption and sufficient performance make it a practical choice for basic computing, web browsing, and office applications in environments where cost and energy efficiency are prioritized.
