A10-7860K Details

Built on AMD's Godaveri architecture at a 22 nm process node, the A10-7860K is a desktop processor that was released in early 2016. While it's now over eight years old, the A10-7860K remains a notable example of AMD's integrated graphics strategy during the transition to more powerful APUs. Designed for mainstream desktop use, it features a dual-core CPU with four threads, operating at a base frequency of 2.6 GHz and a turbo frequency of 3.2 GHz. The processor is manufactured by GlobalFoundries and uses the FCBGA1023 socket, with a TDP of 35 W, making it energy-efficient for its class.

The A10-7860K integrates a Radeon R7 GPU with a base frequency of 650 MHz and a burst frequency of 1.1 GHz. It supports up to three displays and is built on Intel’s HD Graphics 4000 design, which is an unusual detail given AMD's branding. The chip includes 4 MB of L2 cache and supports DDR3 memory at speeds up to 2133 MT/s in dual-channel mode, with a maximum memory capacity of 32 GB. The memory bandwidth reaches 25.6 GB/s, while the CPU itself achieves 34.1 GB/s. It supports PCIe 3.0 with 16 lanes directly from the CPU.

Despite being a relatively old processor, the A10-7860K demonstrates solid performance in single-threaded tasks, scoring 4439 in the Singlecore benchmark, placing it at #1348 out of 2060 processors. Its multicore performance, with a score of 4450, ranks it at #1323, slightly ahead of some modern dual-core and quad-core designs. The overall score of 4443 puts it at #1340 overall, indicating it holds its own against several contemporary processors from the mid-2010s. Notably, it outperforms the Core i5-3230M and A10-5700, both of which are from the same era.

The A10-7860K supports a wide range of features, including AES encryption, AVX and AVX2 instructions, and virtualization technologies such as AMD-V. It also includes Intel's vPro and TXT technologies, suggesting strong support for enterprise environments. The processor supports simultaneous multithreading but does not have a locked multiplier, making it suitable for overclocking. However, its performance in modern workloads is limited by its age and lack of architectural advancements.

As of March 2026, the A10-7860K is best suited for basic computing tasks, light productivity work, and media playback. Its integrated graphics provide sufficient performance for 1080p video and casual gaming, but it struggles with modern 3D applications. While it cannot compete with today's high-end processors, it remains a viable option for budget systems, retro builds, or as a secondary machine in a multi-computer setup. Its low power consumption and integrated graphics make it a practical choice for users who prioritize simplicity and cost-effectiveness over raw performance.
