Celeron N4100 Details

Ranked #1656 of 2060 in overall performance, the Intel Celeron N4100 delivers modest computing capabilities that reflect its position as a budget-oriented mobile processor. Released in 2017, this four-core, four-thread CPU is built on Intel’s 14 nm process and is based on the Goldmont Plus microarchitecture, which is now over six years old. Despite its age, the N4100 remains relevant in low-power applications such as entry-level laptops and compact systems where power efficiency and cost are prioritized over raw performance. Its base clock of 1.1 GHz and a turbo frequency of up to 2.4 GHz allow it to handle basic productivity tasks, light web browsing, and media playback with reasonable efficiency.

The Celeron N4100 features a 6 W TDP and is packaged in the FCBGA-1090 socket, making it suitable for fanless or low-noise designs. It supports up to 8 GB of DDR4-2400 memory across two channels, with a maximum memory bandwidth of 35.76 GiB/s. The processor includes 4 MiB of L2 cache and 0.25 MiB of L1 cache, split into 0.125 MiB for L1i and 0.0938 MiB for L1d. While these specifications are adequate for everyday use, they fall short compared to modern processors, especially in multi-threaded workloads.

Integrated into the N4100 is the UHD Graphics 600 GPU, which runs at a base frequency of 200 MHz and can burst to 700 MHz. With 12 execution units and support for up to three displays, it provides basic graphics performance suitable for office software and HD video playback. However, it lacks support for modern gaming or GPU-intensive applications. The processor also includes a range of instruction set extensions, including AVX2, AES-NI, and SSE4.2, along with virtualization features such as Intel VT-x and VT-d, making it capable of running lightweight virtual machines.

In benchmark testing, the Celeron N4100 achieves a single-core score of 4076 and a multicore score of 4419, placing it in the lower tier of the performance spectrum. It ranks ahead of several older mobile processors like the Core i5-2415M and the A10-6700T but trails behind more recent low-power chips such as the Pentium Silver N5000. The overall score of 4213 reflects its role as a budget-friendly option rather than a performance leader. When compared to the top 50 processors, it is significantly outpaced by high-end CPUs like the Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9995WX, which scores over twice as high.

As of March 2026, the Celeron N4100 is best suited for users seeking an affordable, energy-efficient solution for basic computing tasks. It is ideal for educational environments, lightweight office work, or embedded systems where advanced performance is not required. While it cannot compete with modern processors in terms of speed or efficiency, its long-standing presence in the market underscores its reliability in low-cost devices.
