E1-2500 Details

The AMD E1-2500, launched in May 2013, represents a significant step in the evolution of low-power mobile processors, particularly in its integration of graphics and compute efficiency. Built on the Kabini architecture at a 65 nm process node, this dual-core CPU was designed for energy-conscious mobile devices, offering a balance of basic performance and power efficiency. Despite its age, the E1-2500 remains relevant in niche markets where power consumption and cost are primary concerns, though it is now far behind modern processors in raw performance.

The processor features two cores with a base clock of 1460 MHz and a turbo frequency of up to 1860 MHz, operating at a TDP of 35 W. It supports DDR3L 1066 memory in a single-channel configuration, with a maximum memory capacity of 8 GB and a memory bandwidth of 10.7 GB/s. The chip includes 0.122 MiB of L1 cache and 0.488 MiB of L2 cache, which, while modest by today's standards, was adequate for the lightweight applications of its era. It uses the PPGA478 socket and supports PCIe 2.0 for peripheral connectivity.

Integrated graphics are provided by the Radeon HD 8240, which runs at a base frequency of 313 MHz and can boost to 756 MHz. This GPU supports up to two displays and is capable of handling basic multimedia tasks, though it is not suited for modern gaming or high-resolution video editing. The processor also supports a range of instruction sets, including AVX, AVX2, SSE4.1, and SSE4.2, enabling it to run a wide variety of software, albeit with limited acceleration for compute-intensive workloads.

In benchmark testing, the E1-2500 scores 3893 overall, placing it at #1967 out of 2060 processors. Its single-core score of 3663 ranks #1956, while its multicore score of 4239 places it at #1939. These results place it behind more recent low-power processors like the Intel Atom x5-Z8550 and the AMD E2-1800, but ahead of older models such as the Celeron 847 and the Athlon X2 4450e. The processor’s performance is best described as adequate for light office tasks, web browsing, and media playback.

Despite its age, the E1-2500 continues to serve in entry-level laptops and embedded systems where its low power draw and integrated graphics make it a cost-effective solution. As of March 2026, it occupies a niche in the market for legacy systems and low-demand computing environments, though it is no longer competitive with modern CPUs in performance or efficiency.
