Xeon E-2134 Details

Built on Intel's Coffee Lake architecture at a 14 nm process node, the Xeon E-2134 is a server-focused processor that was launched in July 2018. While it is now over seven years old, its design reflects a period when Intel emphasized efficiency and integrated features for workstation and entry-level server environments. The chip is based on the Core Name "Coffee Lake E" and uses the FCLGA-1151 socket, making it compatible with mainstream LGA-1151 motherboards, albeit with limited modern support as of 2026. Its 4-core, 8-thread configuration leverages Intel's Hyper-Threading technology, which remains a key advantage for multi-threaded workloads despite the aging platform. With a base clock of 3.5 GHz and a turbo frequency of up to 4.5 GHz, the processor delivers solid single-threaded performance, especially when paired with fast DDR4-2666 memory.

The Xeon E-2134 integrates the UHD Graphics P630 GPU, which supports up to four displays and includes hardware acceleration for video decoding and basic compute tasks. While not suitable for gaming or heavy graphics workloads, the integrated graphics make it a practical choice for headless servers or thin clients where display output is needed without an add-in card. The processor supports ECC memory, a critical feature for data integrity in server environments, and features a 71 W TDP, which reflects its balance between performance and thermal efficiency. It also supports Intel’s advanced instruction sets, including AVX, AVX2, and AES-NI, enhancing performance in encryption, scientific computing, and media processing.

In benchmark testing, the Xeon E-2134 achieves a Passmark Overall Score of 5844, placing it at #307 out of 2060 processors in the database. Its Singlecore Score of 6264 ranks it at #183, indicating strong performance in single-threaded applications, particularly when compared to older generation CPUs. However, its Multicore Score of 5213 places it at #506, showing that while it remains competitive in some areas, it is outpaced by modern multi-core processors. Notably, it outperforms several recent Intel and AMD CPUs, such as the Core i5-10600T and Ryzen 5 4500, but falls behind higher-end models like the Core i7-10710U and Ryzen 7 5700U. The score gap to the top-tier processors—many of which are from the Ryzen Threadripper and Core Ultra series—demonstrates its position as a mid-tier server/workstation chip rather than a flagship performer.

Despite its age, the Xeon E-2134 remains relevant in legacy environments where cost, compatibility, and ECC memory are priorities. Its support for Intel vPro, Trusted Execution Technology, and virtualization features like VT-x and VT-d make it suitable for enterprise use cases requiring remote management and secure virtualization. As of March 2026, it is no longer a top contender in the CPU market, but it continues to serve well in low-power server deployments, embedded systems, or as a cost-effective upgrade in older workstations. Its longevity is a testament to Intel's focus on reliability and feature completeness in its Xeon E-series lineup.
