Core i9-11900 Details

Built on Intel's Rocket Lake-S architecture and manufactured on a 14 nm process, the Core i9-11900 is a desktop processor that launched in March 2021, placing it among the older generation of high-performance CPUs as of early 2026. While it's no longer at the forefront of performance, it remains a capable performer for mainstream and enthusiast users who value strong single-core performance and integrated graphics. Designed for the LGA 1200 socket, the chip is compatible with a range of Intel chipsets including Z590, B560, and H570, allowing for flexibility in motherboard selection.

The Core i9-11900 features eight cores and sixteen threads, thanks to Intel's Hyper-Threading technology, which enables efficient multitasking and improved productivity under demanding workloads. It operates at a base frequency of 2.5 GHz and can boost up to 5.2 GHz, a significant increase that enhances responsiveness in both gaming and content creation scenarios. The processor includes 16 MB of L3 cache, with 0.061 MiB of L1 and 0.488 MiB of L2 cache, supporting fast access to frequently used data. With a TDP of 65 W, it delivers strong performance while maintaining reasonable power efficiency for a high-end desktop CPU.

Integrated into the design is Intel's UHD Graphics 750, which provides basic visual processing without requiring a discrete GPU. While not suitable for modern gaming, this GPU supports up to three display outputs and operates at a maximum frequency of 1.35 GHz, making it adequate for office tasks and multimedia playback. The CPU supports DDR4 memory at speeds up to 3200 MT/s via a dual-channel interface, offering sufficient bandwidth for most applications. It also supports PCIe 4.0 with 20 lanes directly from the CPU, enabling high-speed storage and expansion options.

Key technologies include AVX2, AVX-512, and Intel's Turbo Boost Technology 2.0, which dynamically increases clock speeds based on workload and thermal conditions. The processor also supports advanced virtualization features such as VT-x and VT-d, making it a solid choice for virtual machines and software development environments. Despite its age, the Core i9-11900 holds its own in performance benchmarks, scoring 6171 in the Overall Score, placing it at #188 out of 2060 processors. In single-core performance, it achieves a score of 6391, ranking #141, demonstrating its strength in applications that rely on high clock speeds.

However, its multicore performance lags slightly behind newer processors, with a score of 5841 and a rank of #273, indicating that while it remains competitive, it is outpaced by more recent designs. When compared to its immediate predecessors and contemporaries, the Core i9-11900 sits between the Core i9-10900 and Ryzen 7 5700 in terms of overall performance. As of March 2026, it remains a viable option for users seeking a powerful, integrated desktop CPU without the need for a high-end platform, particularly in workstations or home offices where single-threaded performance and memory bandwidth are priorities.
