Xeon E-2286G Details

The Intel Xeon E-2286G is designed for demanding server and workstation environments where integrated graphics and high reliability are essential. Launched in May 2019, this processor represents a capable entry in Intel’s Xeon E lineup, built on the Coffee Lake architecture and targeting users who need a balance of performance, memory reliability, and virtualization support. As of March 2026, it remains a viable option for small business servers, virtualization hosts, and technical workstations, though it's no longer at the forefront of modern CPU performance.

At its core, the Xeon E-2286G features six physical cores and twelve threads thanks to Intel’s Hyper-Threading technology, allowing it to efficiently handle multi-threaded workloads. It operates at a base frequency of 4.0 GHz and can boost up to 4.9 GHz on a single core, making it competitive in both single-threaded and multi-threaded tasks. The processor is manufactured on Intel’s 14 nm process and includes 12 MB of L3 cache, with 0.375 MiB of L1 cache and 1.5 MiB of L2 cache distributed across the cores. It supports DDR4-2666 memory in a dual-channel configuration, with a maximum capacity of 128 GB and full ECC memory support, a critical feature for mission-critical systems.

The Xeon E-2286G integrates Intel’s UHD Graphics P630 GPU, which runs at 350 MHz and can boost to 1.2 GHz. It includes 24 execution units and supports up to three displays, offering basic graphics capabilities suitable for light multimedia or headless server operation. The processor uses the LGA-1151 socket and is compatible with C242 and C246 chipsets, ensuring support for PCIe 3.0 with up to 16 lanes. With a TDP of 95 W, it requires adequate cooling and is best suited for systems with robust thermal management.

In benchmark testing, the Xeon E-2286G achieves an Overall Score of 6,175, ranking it #187 out of 2,060 processors, with a Singlecore Score of 6,377 (#145) and a Multicore Score of 5,873 (#265). It outperforms many mainstream desktop CPUs, including the Core i9-11900F and Ryzen 7 5700, and competes closely with other Xeon E-series models like the Xeon E-2278G. However, it falls short of modern high-end processors such as the Core Ultra 9 285K or Ryzen Threadripper 9980X, which dominate the top 50 rankings.

The Xeon E-2286G supports a wide range of advanced features, including AVX, AVX2, AES-NI, Intel VT-x, VT-d, and Intel vPro technology, making it well-suited for virtualization and secure computing environments. Its ability to run ECC memory and support hardware virtualization ensures data integrity and efficient resource allocation in server workloads. While not a high-performance enthusiast chip, it remains a reliable and capable choice for business-critical applications where integrated graphics, multi-threading, and memory reliability are priorities.
