Xeon Gold 6126T Details

Built on Intel's Skylake SP microarchitecture and fabricated on a 14 nm process, the Xeon Gold 6126T is a server-grade processor designed for high-performance computing environments. Released in the mid-2010s, it remains relevant in legacy server systems but is now considered outdated by modern standards, with its performance now surpassed by newer generations of both Intel and AMD processors. As of March 2026, the Xeon Gold 6126T is positioned as a mid-tier server CPU, offering a balance of core count, clock speed, and advanced instruction set support suitable for virtualization, data center workloads, and enterprise applications.

The processor features 12 cores and 24 threads, enabled by Intel’s Simultaneous Multithreading (SMT) technology, which allows each core to handle two threads concurrently. It operates at a base frequency of 2.6 GHz and can boost up to 3.7 GHz on a single core, delivering strong single-threaded performance. The L1 cache totals 0.75 MiB (0.375 MiB for instruction and 0.375 MiB for data), while the L2 cache is 12 MiB and the L3 cache reaches 19.25 MiB, providing efficient data access for multi-threaded applications. The chip is built on the FCLGA-3647 socket and supports up to 768 GiB of DDR4-2666 memory across six channels, with a peak memory bandwidth of 119.21 GiB/s.

Intel's advanced features are well-represented in the Xeon Gold 6126T, including support for AVX-512, AES-NI, and Intel’s Speed Shift and Turbo Boost 2.0 technologies. It also includes robust virtualization capabilities through Intel VT-x and VT-d, along with Intel vPro and TXT for enhanced security and manageability. ECC memory support ensures data integrity in mission-critical systems, while the 125 W TDP makes it energy-efficient for server racks with high core density.

In benchmark testing, the Xeon Gold 6126T achieves a Passmark Overall Score of 5557, placing it at #444 out of 2060 processors. It scores 5593 in single-core performance (#489) and 5504 in multicore performance (#403). These results place it above many consumer-grade CPUs like the Core i7-10700F and Core i7-9700K, but below higher-end server and workstation chips such as the Xeon W-3223 and EPYC 7F52. Its single-core performance is particularly strong, outperforming several modern processors in this category, though its multicore score indicates it's no longer competitive with today’s top-tier server CPUs.

The Xeon Gold 6126T is most suitable for legacy enterprise environments, mid-tier virtualization clusters, and workloads requiring robust memory support and ECC integrity. While it lacks the raw performance of modern processors like the Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9995WX or Core Ultra 9 285K, its combination of core count, memory bandwidth, and feature set makes it a reliable choice for businesses maintaining older infrastructure. For new deployments, however, more recent server CPUs offer significantly better performance per watt and feature parity.
