Celeron G3920 Details

As of March 2026, the Intel Celeron G3920 remains a legacy processor, having been released in September 2015 as part of Intel’s Skylake lineup. Designed for budget desktop systems, it occupies a niche in the lower end of the market, offering basic computing capabilities with integrated graphics and support for modern memory standards. While it is no longer relevant in high-performance applications, it continues to serve users requiring simple tasks such as web browsing, office productivity, and media playback on older or low-cost builds.

The Celeron G3920 is built on Intel’s 14 nm Skylake microarchitecture, featuring a dual-core design with no simultaneous multithreading, meaning it runs two threads simultaneously but lacks SMT. It operates at a base frequency of 2.9 GHz, with a locked multiplier that limits overclocking potential. Despite its modest clock speed, the processor benefits from Intel’s improved instruction set and integrated HD 510 graphics, which offer better performance than previous generations. The chip uses the FCLGA-1151 socket, compatible with the Sunrise Point chipset, and consumes 51 W under typical loads.

It includes 4 MB of L3 cache, a significant improvement over earlier Celeron models, which helps improve data access speed for basic workloads. The processor supports dual-channel DDR3L-1600 and DDR4-2133 memory, allowing for flexible memory configurations, though actual performance is constrained by its two-core design. Memory bandwidth reaches up to 34.1 GB/s, and the system supports up to 64 GB of RAM, making it suitable for lightweight multitasking.

The integrated Intel HD 510 GPU operates at 350 MHz base frequency and can boost up to 950 MHz, supporting up to three displays and providing adequate performance for casual gaming and HD video playback. It supports modern video decoding standards and offers decent power efficiency for a low-end processor. The Celeron G3920 also includes support for key technologies such as AVX, AVX2, AES-NI, and Intel VT-x, enabling basic virtualization and encryption workloads.

In benchmark testing, the Celeron G3920 achieves a single-core score of 4786, ranking #1077 out of 2060 processors, and a multicore score of 4712, placing it at #946. Its overall score of 4756 lands it at #1060, indicating that while it performs well within its segment, it trails significantly behind modern CPUs. It competes with older Intel Core i3 and i5 variants, such as the Core i3-7320 and Core i5-4570S, but falls behind more recent low-power processors like the Core i5-6500T and Xeon E3-1245 v2.

Given its age and modest performance, the Celeron G3920 is best suited for entry-level desktops, thin clients, or systems where cost and power efficiency are prioritized over performance. While it lacks the capabilities needed for modern gaming, content creation, or heavy multitasking, it remains a viable option for basic computing needs in environments where budget constraints are a primary consideration.
