Celeron E1400 Details

As of March 2026, the Intel Celeron E1400 remains a relic of the late 2000s, representing an era when integrated graphics and dual-core processors were still considered mainstream. Launched in April 2008, this desktop processor is part of Intel's Celeron lineup, built on the Allendale microarchitecture and designed for entry-level computing. While it may no longer compete with modern CPUs in any meaningful way, the E1400 serves as a reminder of the rapid pace of technological advancement in the processor industry.

The Celeron E1400 features two cores and four threads, operating at a base frequency of 2.0 GHz, with a turbo frequency of 1.86 GHz. It is fabricated on a 65 nm process and contains 105 million transistors. The processor operates at a 65 W TDP, which was typical for its time, and uses a Socket LGA775 interface. It supports dual-channel DDR1, DDR2, and DDR3 memory, though actual compatibility depends on the motherboard chipset. The L1 cache is 0.061 MiB, with 0.488 MiB of L2 cache, and the maximum supported memory is 4 GB.

Despite its age, the Celeron E1400 includes a range of instruction set extensions, such as SSE, SSE2, SSE3, SSSE3, and SSE4.1, which were significant at the time of its release. However, it lacks support for SSE4.2, AVX, and AVX2—features that are now standard in modern processors. The processor does not have integrated graphics, but certain motherboards with compatible chipsets can provide this functionality through their onboard graphics solutions.

In benchmark testing, the Celeron E1400 scores 4,075 in the Overall Score, placing it at #1827 out of 2060 processors. Its Singlecore Score is 3,936, ranking #1815, and its Multicore Score is 4,283, placing it at #1812. These results show that the E1400 is competitive with some low-end modern processors but falls far behind current high-performance CPUs. In the top 50 lists, it is not present, as even the slowest processors in the top 50 have significantly higher scores.

The Celeron E1400 is best suited for basic desktop tasks such as web browsing, office applications, and media playback. Its performance is adequate for light multitasking but not suitable for gaming, video editing, or other resource-intensive applications. Given its age and limitations, it is primarily of interest to hobbyists, collectors, or users maintaining legacy systems. As a budget-friendly option from the past, it underscores how far processor technology has come in just over a decade.
