Atom D2500 Details

Built on Intel's Cedarview architecture and fabricated using a 32 nm process, the Atom D2500 is a mobile processor that was released in November 2011. As of March 2026, this CPU is more than 14 years old, placing it well outside the modern computing era. Designed for low-power mobile devices, the D2500 features a dual-core design with four threads enabled via Intel Hyper-Threading technology, allowing it to handle basic multitasking and light workloads efficiently. It operates at a base frequency of 1.867 GHz, with a clock multiplier locked at 15, and consumes just 10 W of power, making it suitable for fanless or compact systems where thermal constraints are critical.

The processor includes 0.061 MiB of L1 cache and 0.488 MiB of L2 cache per core, totaling 0.976 MiB of L2 cache across both cores. It supports DDR3 memory and is packaged in a BGA 437 format, which means it is soldered directly onto the motherboard and not user-replaceable. Despite its age, the Atom D2500 supports a broad range of instruction sets, including SSE4.1, SSE4.2, AVX, and AVX2, along with AES encryption and other security features such as TXT and vPro. However, it lacks support for the newer AVX-512 instruction set and does not support ECC memory, limiting its use in enterprise environments.

In terms of integrated graphics, the Atom D2500 relies on Intel's GMA solution, which is only available on certain motherboards that include the chipset feature. This GPU provides minimal graphics performance and is suitable only for basic display output and light video playback. It does not support modern gaming or high-resolution multimedia applications, especially since the processor lacks SSE4 support, a requirement for many contemporary games.

Benchmark results show that the Atom D2500 has an overall score of 3524, ranking #2060 out of 2060 processors, and a single-core score of 3044, also ranking last. The multicore score is 4244, placing it #1925 of 2060. These results highlight that the D2500 is significantly slower than nearly all other processors in the database, even those released just a few years after it. While it may still be found in embedded systems or ultra-low-cost devices, its performance is inadequate for modern computing demands.

Given its age and performance limitations, the Atom D2500 is best suited for legacy applications, basic office tasks, or as a component in low-cost netbooks or industrial control systems. It is not competitive with modern CPUs, even in the mobile or embedded space, and its lack of single-core performance makes it particularly unsuitable for tasks requiring high responsiveness or real-time processing.
