Xeon E-2314 Details

Ranking #393 in single-core performance and #563 overall among over 2,000 processors, the Intel Xeon E-2314 presents a compelling mix of server-grade features and mainstream performance. Launched in September 2021, this processor is now over four years old, placing it in the mature phase of its lifecycle, yet it remains relevant for entry-level server and workstation workloads due to its robust feature set and ECC memory support. Built on Intel’s 14 nm process, the Xeon E-2314 uses the Rocket Lake-E microarchitecture, a derivative of the consumer-focused Rocket Lake design adapted for professional environments. It features four cores and four threads, with a base frequency of 2.8 GHz and a maximum turbo frequency of 4.5 GHz, delivering strong single-threaded performance for legacy applications and virtualization tasks.

The processor operates on the LGA 1200 socket and supports DDR4 memory with a dual-channel interface, reaching up to 3200 MT/s. Its memory bandwidth is rated at 51.2 GB/s, and it includes 8 MB of L3 cache—split into 0.076 MiB of L1 and 0.488 MiB of L2 per core. With a TDP of 65 W, the Xeon E-2314 is energy-efficient for its class, making it suitable for compact servers or workstations where power consumption is a concern. Unlike many modern desktop CPUs, it lacks integrated graphics, requiring a discrete GPU for visual output.

The Xeon E-2314 supports a range of advanced technologies, including Intel’s vPro platform, hardware virtualization (VT-x, VT-d), and Intel’s trusted execution technology (TXT). It also includes support for AVX, AVX2, and AVX-512 instruction sets, enabling efficient processing for scientific computing, data analysis, and encryption workloads. The processor’s locked multiplier limits overclocking potential, but this is typical for the Xeon E line, which prioritizes stability and reliability.

In benchmark testing, the Xeon E-2314 achieves a Passmark Overall Score of 5,386, placing it above processors like the Core i7-10700T and Ryzen 7 4700U, but behind higher-end CPUs such as the Core i7-7920HQ and Xeon E5-4660 v4. Its single-core score of 5,740 is particularly strong, outperforming many modern mobile processors and placing it just behind the Core i7-1185G7E and Xeon E3-1585 v3. However, its multicore performance—rated at 4,854—shows it is not optimized for heavily threaded workloads, with scores trailing behind high-core-count Xeons and Ryzen Threadripper models.

As of March 2026, the Xeon E-2314 is best suited for small business servers, virtualization hosts, or workstation environments where ECC memory, hardware virtualization, and single-threaded performance are priorities. While it no longer competes with flagship desktop or server processors, its reliability and feature set ensure it remains a viable option in cost-sensitive professional settings.
