Pentium G4400 Details

Launched in September 2015, the Intel Pentium G4400 represents a significant step down from the high-end Core processors of its era, yet it remains a relevant option for basic computing tasks even as of early 2026. Built on Intel's Skylake microarchitecture and fabricated on a 14 nm process, the G4400 was designed as a budget-friendly desktop CPU with a focus on efficiency and integrated graphics. While it may seem outdated compared to modern processors, its 2-core, 2-thread design with a 3.3 GHz base clock and 54 W TDP still offers adequate performance for everyday productivity and light multimedia use.

The Pentium G4400 features 3 MB of L3 cache and supports dual-channel DDR3L-1600 and DDR4-2133 memory, with a maximum bandwidth of 34.1 GB/s. It uses the LGA-1151 socket and is compatible with the Sunrise Point chipset, making it a straightforward upgrade for older systems. Despite lacking Simultaneous Multithreading, the processor leverages Intel's Enhanced SpeedStep technology to manage power consumption effectively. It also supports advanced instruction sets such as AVX, AVX2, and AES-NI, enabling efficient performance in compute-heavy applications like video encoding and encryption.

Integrated into the G4400 is the Intel HD 510 graphics core, which features 12 execution units and a base frequency of 350 MHz, boosting up to 1.0 GHz in burst mode. This GPU supports up to three displays and is capable of handling basic gaming and HD video playback, though it's no match for dedicated graphics cards. The processor also includes robust virtualization features, including Intel VT-x and VT-d, which enhance performance in virtual machine environments.

In benchmark testing, the G4400 achieves a Passmark Overall Score of 5080, ranking #809 among 2060 processors, with a Singlecore Score of 5258 (#763) and a Multicore Score of 4812 (#828). These results place it above older dual-core chips like the Core i7-870 but below modern Pentium and Core i5 models such as the G5420. While its single-core performance is relatively strong for its class, its multicore performance lags behind contemporary CPUs, especially in multi-threaded workloads.

As of February 2026, the Pentium G4400 remains a viable choice for entry-level desktops, home office systems, and embedded applications where cost and power efficiency are priorities. It’s particularly well-suited for users who do not require intensive processing or gaming capabilities. Although it’s no longer competitive with current-generation CPUs, its longevity and low power draw make it a reliable option for basic computing needs.
