Intel Pentium P6200 Details

The Intel Pentium P6200 is designed for budget-conscious mobile users who need reliable performance for everyday computing tasks. As a dual-core processor from Intel's Calpella platform, it was released in the early 2010s and represents an older generation of mobile CPUs. While no longer competitive with modern processors, it still holds relevance in legacy systems and low-power applications where integrated graphics and thermal efficiency are prioritized.

Built on the 32 nm Westmere microarchitecture, the Pentium P6200 features two cores with a base clock speed of 2.13 GHz and a maximum turbo frequency of 2.13 GHz. It supports Intel's Enhanced SpeedStep Technology for dynamic frequency scaling and includes a 3 MiB L3 cache, along with 0.5 MiB of L2 cache and 0.125 MiB of L1 cache split between instruction and data. The processor operates at a TDP of 35 W, making it suitable for thin and light laptops, particularly those using the rPGA-988A or BGA-1288 packages.

Memory support is limited to DDR3-1066 with a maximum capacity of 8 GB and a bandwidth of 15.88 GiB/s across two channels. The integrated HD Graphics (Ironlake) GPU runs at 500 MHz base frequency and can boost to 667 MHz, offering basic graphical performance with support for up to two displays. While not suited for gaming or content creation, it handles web browsing, office applications, and media playback efficiently.

The processor supports a range of advanced features including SSE4.1, SSE4.2, AVX, and AVX2, as well as Intel’s VT-x and VT-d virtualization technologies. It also includes AES-NI encryption instructions and Intel’s Flex Memory Access for improved memory performance. Despite its age, the Pentium P6200 remains a capable entry-level option for users who do not require high-performance computing.

In benchmark testing, the Pentium P6200 achieves an overall score of 4364, placing it at #1452 out of 2060 processors, with a single-core score of 3893 (#1834) and a multicore score of 5071 (#585). It outperforms several contemporary mobile processors like the Core i3-3110M and the Atom C3858, but trails behind modern CPUs such as the Core i7-640M and Phenom II X4 840T. Its multicore performance is stronger relative to its single-core capabilities, indicating better scaling for multi-threaded workloads.

As of March 2026, the Intel Pentium P6200 is best suited for light productivity tasks, education, and basic multimedia use. It serves as a reliable, energy-efficient solution for older laptops or low-cost devices where performance demands are modest and cost is a primary concern.
