Atom C3758 Details

The Intel Atom C3758, released in 2016, is a low-power embedded processor built on the 14 nm Goldmont microarchitecture. Designed for network and enterprise storage applications, it operates at a base clock of 2.2 GHz with a locked multiplier and features eight cores and eight threads, enabling efficient multithreaded workloads in compact systems. Despite its age, the C3758 remains relevant in embedded environments due to its 25 W TDP, making it suitable for power-constrained or thermally sensitive deployments. It supports DDR3L-1600 and DDR4-2133 memory, with up to 262 GB of RAM and a maximum memory bandwidth of 31.79 GiB/s, supported across two channels. The processor includes a substantial 16 MiB L2 cache and an L1 cache totaling 0.438 MiB, with 0.188 MiB dedicated to L1D and 0.25 MiB to L1I. It uses the FCBGA-1310 package and supports PCIe 3.0 with up to 16 lanes, along with 16 SATA ports and 8 USB ports.

In terms of integrated graphics, the Atom C3758 does not include a GPU, relying instead on external solutions for visual processing. However, it supports a suite of virtualization and security features, including Intel VT-x, VT-d, EPT, and Intel QuickAssist Technology, which enhance performance and security in virtualized and data-intensive environments. The processor also includes AES-NI, SSE, AVX, and other x86-64 instruction sets, ensuring compatibility with modern software and encryption workloads.

Benchmark results show the Atom C3758 achieving an Overall Score of 4256, placing it at #1583 out of 2060 processors. Its Singlecore Score of 3917 ranks it at #1823, while its Multicore Score of 4764 lands at #892. These results position it below most modern desktop and mobile processors but above several older mainstream CPUs, such as the Core i3-2310M and Pentium E6300. In the multicore benchmark, it narrowly trails the Core i7-3770S and FX-8320, indicating strong multi-threaded performance for its class. However, its single-core performance is notably weaker, reflecting the limitations of its 14 nm process and lack of modern architectural optimizations.

As of March 2026, the Atom C3758 is best suited for embedded, low-power, and data-centric applications such as network appliances, storage servers, and edge computing devices. While it no longer competes with current high-end processors, its reliability, low power consumption, and integrated features make it a viable choice in industrial and server environments where performance per watt is critical. The processor's position in the top 50 lists remains distant, with the highest-ranking single-core score in the top 50 being over 8,000, highlighting the performance gap between this 2016 design and modern high-performance CPUs.
