E2-3200 Details

The AMD E2-3200, launched in September 2011, is a budget-friendly desktop processor built on the Llano architecture at a 32 nm process node. With a base clock of 2.4 GHz and a TDP of 65 W, it represents a mid-tier offering from AMD's early APU lineup, designed for basic computing tasks and integrated graphics performance. While now considered outdated by modern standards, the E2-3200 was part of AMD's push to deliver cost-effective computing solutions with onboard graphics, eliminating the need for a discrete GPU in entry-level systems.

This dual-core processor operates at a 24x multiplier and features 512 KB of L2 cache per core, totaling 1 MiB, with an L1 cache of 0.122 MiB. It supports DDR3 memory via a dual-channel interface and is compatible with the Socket FM1, using a µPGA package. The chip integrates the Radeon HD 6370D GPU, which provides basic graphics performance suitable for office applications, video playback, and light gaming. The processor also includes essential instruction set extensions such as MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, SSE4a, and 3DNow!, alongside AMD-V for hardware virtualization.

In benchmark testing, the E2-3200 achieves an Overall Score of 4161, ranking #1732 out of 2060 processors, with a Singlecore Score of 4068 (#1707) and a Multicore Score of 4301 (#1751). These results place it slightly above the Celeron N2910 and Athlon II M320 but behind the A6-9500 and A4-4020. It lags behind modern processors, as evidenced by the top 50 lists, where the highest-ranked processor exceeds 12,000 in multicore performance, underscoring the significant generational gap.

The E2-3200's most notable limitation is its outdated architecture and lack of modern features like SMT or advanced power management. Its performance is constrained by the 32 nm manufacturing process and the absence of a high-speed cache hierarchy, making it less competitive in multi-threaded workloads. However, its integrated GPU and low TDP make it suitable for lightweight desktop use, particularly in systems where cost and power efficiency are prioritized over raw performance.

As of March 2026, the AMD E2-3200 is best suited for legacy systems, basic productivity tasks, and educational environments where advanced processing is not required. While it no longer competes with contemporary CPUs, it remains a testament to AMD's early efforts in integrating graphics and compute on a single die.
