A6-3600 Details

The AMD A6-3600, launched in June 2011, is a desktop processor built on the Llano architecture and designed for Socket FM1 systems. With a base clock of 2.1 GHz and a turbo frequency of 2.4 GHz, it features four cores and four threads, operating on a 32 nm manufacturing process with 1.178 billion transistors. The chip includes 0.122 MiB of L1 cache per core and 0.954 MiB of L2 cache, totaling 1 MiB of L2 cache per core. It supports DDR3 memory at speeds up to 1866 MT/s through a dual-channel interface, delivering a memory bandwidth of 29.9 GB/s. The processor operates at a TDP of 65 W, making it suitable for mainstream desktop use, and uses a µPGA package for mounting.

Integrated into the A6-3600 is the Radeon HD 6530D GPU, which provides basic graphics capabilities without requiring a discrete graphics card. This GPU supports up to three display outputs and includes 128 stream processors, capable of running at a maximum frequency of 650 MHz. While not designed for high-end gaming, the integrated graphics allow for HD video playback and light multimedia tasks.

The A6-3600 supports several key technologies, including AMD-V for hardware virtualization, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, SSE4a, and 3DNow! instruction sets, enhancing performance in multimedia and legacy applications. However, it lacks ECC memory support and does not feature simultaneous multithreading, limiting its efficiency in multi-threaded workloads. The locked multiplier prevents overclocking, which restricts performance tuning for enthusiasts.

In benchmark testing, the A6-3600 achieves an Overall Score of 4151, placing it at #1741 out of 2060 processors. Its Singlecore Score is 4017, ranking #1757, while its Multicore Score stands at 4351, ranking #1577. These results place it behind modern processors but still competitive with some older mid-range CPUs. It is faster than the A6-9200 and Phenom II X4 B45 but slower than the Core i5-540M and A6-7310. In the broader context of CPU performance, the A6-3600 trails far behind the top-tier processors, such as the Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9995WX, which scores over 9,000 in overall performance.

As of March 2026, the A6-3600 is an outdated processor by modern standards, having been released over a decade ago. While it was once a capable option for budget desktops and light productivity tasks, it is now best suited for legacy systems or as a replacement in older machines where integrated graphics and low power consumption are priorities. Its performance is no longer competitive in today's computing environment, where even entry-level modern CPUs outperform it in both single-core and multi-core tasks.
