AMD is preparing for the highly anticipated global launch of the Radeon RX 9070 GRE, following confirmation from retailer listings in the US, Europe, and Germany. Previously exclusive to the Chinese market, the graphics card is expected to arrive around June 1, 2026, coinciding with the Computex trade show. This move signals a significant shift in AMD’s strategy for its "GRE" (Graphics Radeon Edition) models, which have historically been region-locked. Early listings on platforms such as Amazon US and German retailer Caseking indicate that the global expansion of this product is now confirmed.
Technically, the RX 9070 GRE is built on the RDNA 4 architecture, featuring 48 compute units and 12 GB of GDDR6 memory with a 192-bit memory interface. This specification places the card’s performance between the more affordable RX 9060 XT and the fully equipped standard RX 9070. Despite earlier rumors suggesting a global version with 16 GB of VRAM, recent marketing materials from partner Sapphire indicate that the 12 GB model will be released worldwide. Industry analysts suggest this decision may be driven by current memory supply constraints, prompting AMD to revise plans for a higher-memory variant.
The commercial success of the RX 9070 GRE will largely depend on its pricing strategy. In Germany, the card is expected to retail between €470 and €520, positioning it as a more budget-friendly alternative to the standard RX 9070. As the model enters the upper mid-range segment with reduced memory capacity, its price must be significantly lower than that of the full-fledged RX 9070 to justify the compromise on VRAM for consumers. By launching ahead of Computex, AMD aims to address a broader customer base outside China and strategically fill the gap in its product lineup.
