AMD 'Verano': New Low-Power CPUs Feature SB1 Socket and BGA Design

Cooler manufacturer Dynatron has revealed through a product listing that AMD’s new, power-efficient EPYC processors in the “Verano” series will utilize the SB1 socket. Unlike the previous pin-based sockets SP7 and SP8, the “B” prefix indicates a BGA (Ball Grid Array) design, meaning the CPUs will be permanently soldered and not replaceable. These low-power processors (Epyc 9006 LP), featuring the Zen-6 architecture and optimized for rack-scale AI solutions, are scheduled to become available in 2027.
