Intel has unveiled details regarding its upcoming high-end server processor codenamed Diamond Rapids, part of the new Oak Stream platform scheduled for release in 2027. Manufactured using Intel's energy-efficient Intel 18A-P process node, these chips represent a significant architectural advancement aimed at the evolving demands of modern data centers. The announcement, made during Computex, highlights Intel's commitment to combining superior performance with improved power efficiency as it prepares to compete in an increasingly crowded server CPU market.

At the core of Diamond Rapids is a substantial increase in processing power, featuring up to 192 performance cores per processor. To manage the complexity and connectivity requirements of such a dense integration, Intel has adopted a new tile-based arrangement with internal I/O dies. This architectural shift is designed to enhance communication between different chip components, reducing latency and improving overall system throughput.
