Xeon E-2124 Details

As of March 2026, the Intel Xeon E-2124 remains a relevant option in the server and workstation space, particularly for users requiring integrated graphics and ECC memory support in a compact, energy-efficient package. Launched in July 2018, the processor is based on Intel’s Coffee Lake architecture and is part of the Xeon E-2000 series, designed for entry-level servers and workstations where reliability and memory integrity are critical. Despite its age, the Xeon E-2124 continues to hold its ground due to its balanced performance and robust feature set.

The processor features four cores and four threads, with a base clock of 3.3 GHz and a turbo frequency of 4.3 GHz, enabling it to handle demanding workloads efficiently. It is built on a 14 nm process and operates within a 71 W TDP, making it energy-efficient for server environments where power consumption and thermal output are important. The chip includes 8 MB of L3 cache and supports dual-channel DDR4-2666 memory, with a maximum capacity of 65.5 GB, ensuring sufficient bandwidth and capacity for most server applications.

Intel’s integrated UHD Graphics P630 provides basic graphics capabilities, supporting up to three displays and suitable for light visual tasks or server management interfaces. The Xeon E-2124 also supports a wide array of advanced features, including ECC memory, Intel VT-x and VT-d for hardware virtualization, and Intel’s Turbo Boost 2.0 for dynamic frequency scaling. It includes support for AVX, AVX2, and other instruction sets, enhancing performance in scientific computing, data processing, and encryption workloads.

In benchmark testing, the Xeon E-2124 achieves a Passmark Overall Score of 5599, placing it at #414 among 2060 processors. Its Singlecore Score of 6043 ranks it #250, indicating strong single-threaded performance, while its Multicore Score of 4934 places it at #692, reflecting solid scalability across multiple cores. The processor outperforms many older Xeon models, such as the Xeon E5-2660 v2 and Xeon E3-1246 v3, but falls behind newer mainstream and enthusiast CPUs like the Ryzen 7 3700X and Core i7-9700F.

Despite being four years old, the Xeon E-2124 remains a capable processor for light to moderate server and workstation tasks. Its combination of integrated graphics, ECC support, and virtualization features makes it ideal for small business servers, virtualization hosts, and edge computing applications. While it is no longer competitive with the latest high-end CPUs, it offers a reliable and cost-effective solution for users who prioritize stability and memory integrity over raw performance.
