USA Ban Import of New Routers: Domestic Manufacturing Now Required
The U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has implemented new regulations banning the import and sale of new consumer routers produced outside the United States. The rules require future devices to be fully manufactured, developed, and controlled within the U.S., including chip production and software. Already certified models may continue to be sold and used, while manufacturers may apply for conditional exemptions under strict security conditions. The policy could delay the rollout of new technologies like WiFi 7 and significantly disrupt global supply chains.
