Samsung Unveils Odyssey G8 G80HS: High-End 6K Gaming Monitor with Dual-Mode Technology

Widely Covered
Samsung is expanding its enthusiast lineup with the introduction of the Odyssey G8 G80HS. This new gaming monitor, featuring a screen size of 31.5 to 32 inches, utilizes a Fast-IPS panel that delivers a stunning native 6K resolution at a refresh rate of 165 Hz. By doing so, Samsung positions itself in the premium segment of the market, targeting users who refuse to compromise between image clarity and speed.

The standout feature of the G80HS is its so-called Dual-Mode or Dual-Hz functionality. This feature allows users to switch flexibly between two operating states: while the 6K resolution provides ideal conditions for detailed AAA titles and professional productivity, switching to a lower resolution (3K) enables a massive jump in speed to up to 330 Hz. This is particularly advantageous for competitive e-sports titles where every millisecond counts.

In terms of connectivity and performance, the monitor is fully equipped for next-generation hardware. It features DisplayPort 2.1 and HDMI 2.1 ports, ensuring the high bandwidth necessary for 6K output. Additionally, the device boasts a 1ms response time and supports AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and G-Sync compatibility to effectively eliminate screen tearing and stuttering. An integrated USB hub completes the package, optimizing cable management for the user's workspace.

The Odyssey G8 G80HS is currently available for pre-order at a price of 1,499 euros. However, interested customers will have to wait some time, as shipments are scheduled to begin on June 19, 2026. With this combination of extreme resolution and variable refresh rates, Samsung is setting a new benchmark for versatile high-end displays.
