At NAB 2026, Insta360 unveiled its latest innovation in handheld videography: the Luna series. The centerpiece of the lineup is the Insta360 Luna Ultra, a high-end gimbal camera equipped with a powerful 1-inch sensor and a fast f/1.8 aperture. A standout feature is the dual Leica-tuned lens system, which includes a telephoto lens capable of up to 6x lossless zoom, offering immense versatility across various shooting distances.
On the technical front, the Luna Ultra sets a high bar with support for 4K video at up to 240fps and 10-bit iLog color profiles, enabling professional-grade color grading in post-production. These hardware specs are complemented by advanced AI-driven tracking to keep subjects precisely in frame. A key competitive edge is the rumored modular design featuring a detachable camera head, providing creators with significantly more positioning flexibility compared to the fixed structure of the DJI Osmo Pocket 4.
Alongside the flagship, Insta360 confirmed the Luna Pro. This model is designed for users seeking a more streamlined solution, featuring a single 1-inch sensor while retaining the same 10-bit iLog capabilities and AI tracking as its larger sibling. The Luna Pro will be available in black and white, with pricing expected to align closely with DJI's current offerings to remain competitive.
Both cameras are scheduled for release in June 2026. To complete the ecosystem for content creators, Insta360 plans to launch the new Mic Pro simultaneously. With this strategic expansion, Insta360 is positioning itself aggressively in the compact vlogging market, leveraging a combination of modular hardware and Leica optics to challenge DJI's dominance.
