Despite Record Sales: EA Lays Off Staff Across All Battlefield Studios

Widely Covered
Electronic Arts has carried out layoffs across all four studios involved in the Battlefield franchise—DICE, Criterion Games, Ripple Effect, and Motive Studio—despite the record-breaking launch and strong sales of Battlefield 6. The move, which comes as player numbers have sharply declined and the game faces growing pressure, stands in contrast to the company’s impressive financial performance around the game’s release. EA cited the need to restructure teams to better align with key community priorities, emphasizing that Battlefield remains a top strategic focus for the company. The layoffs reflect a broader shift in development strategy as EA refines its approach to live-service game management.
